EU and US Move Closer to Final Trade Agreement

The European Union has reached a preliminary agreement to eliminate import duties on American goods. This brings the implementation of the trade agreement with the United States a significant step closer and appears to prevent further escalation of the trade dispute for the time being.

Under the agreement, the EU will remove import duties on American industrial products and expand market access for agricultural and fisheries products from the United States. In return, US import tariffs on most European goods will remain limited to 15%, preventing the introduction of higher duties for the foreseeable future.

Negotiations have been under pressure in recent months after President Trump threatened to increase tariffs on European products if Europe failed to implement the agreement before 4 July. A final vote in the European Parliament is expected in mid-June.

For European exporters and logistics providers, the agreement offers greater certainty and stability within international trade flows and supply chains.
