Good news for importers: the trade agreement between the European Union and the Mercosur countries (Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Bolivia) will be provisionally applied as of April 1, 2026. This allows importers to immediately benefit from reduced import duties.
However, final approval of the agreement is still pending. The European Parliament has yet to give its consent and has first submitted questions to the European Court of Justice regarding the authority of the European Commission to conclude these agreements. As a result, it may take some time before the agreement fully enters into force.
