Beginning December 13, Customs will inspect import declarations of organic goods requiring a COI certificate (Certificate of Inspection) through CERTEX. The inspection will be conducted via the TRACES system in collaboration with Skal Biocontrole.
A COI certificate proves that goods meet European requirements for organic products (EU regulation 2018/848). When importing organic agricultural products, the certificate must be:
- available before import,
- correctly registered in TRACES,
- signed by Skal, and
- included in the import declaration.
