As of 1 July 2026, the Dutch government will introduce a truck toll.

This toll will apply to trucks weighing more than 3,500 kg and will be charged on almost all motorways and a large part of provincial and municipal roads.

The level of the toll will depend on the vehicle’s weight, emission class, and the number of kilometers driven. With this measure, the government aims to encourage cleaner and quieter vehicles and to invest in infrastructure and the sustainability of transport.

The introduction of the truck toll will increase transportation costs. It is therefore likely that these additional costs will be passed on, resulting in higher transport costs for both container shipments and groupage (LCL) cargo.

We are closely monitoring developments and will keep you informed about the concrete impact on rates and transport arrangements. Naturally, we will continue to work together to find efficient and sustainable solutions to minimize the impact as much as possible.
